Core Values Assessment

Instructions

 Cut out the cards

Add any values that are important to you not covered by the labeled cards on the “other

values cards”.

Round 1: Create space to set your headers as five columns that you will shuffle your

values cards under.

The five columns are as follows:

Not Important to Me

Somewhat Important to Me

Important to me

Very Important to me

Most important to me

Set a timer for 5 min and begin sorting the cards quicky into the five columns. This

should be done quickly without giving a lot of thought to the values. We are looking for a

visceral reaction and it is good if you feel the time pressure.

Round 2: Remove the cards under the columns Not important to Me and Somewhat

Important to Me by setting them aside. Pick up the value cards under the remaining 3

and reshuffle. Repeat the exercise with the remaining three categories Most Important

to Me, Very Important to Me and Important to me.

Again, do not overthink this, place the values in the appropriate columns, this time

taking 7 minutes or less to complete the exercise.

Round 3: Set aside the cards and column labeled important to me. In this round we are

aiming to select our top ten values “Most Important to Me”. This may take up to ten

minutes or less.

With your final ten, now rank the cards in order of importance. Take a picture of these

cards or write them down and share them with me next week.
